Great British Energy deadlines for community energy investment opportunities

Local and community energy projects are already delivering real benefits across the UK, helping to revitalise pubs, libraries, leisure centres and other community assets while generating clean, locally owned power.

Despite growing interest, many community-led energy schemes have struggled to access the funding, expertise and support needed to get projects off the ground and scale them up.

To help unlock this potential, Great British Energy launched £30 million of funding in September to kickstart a community power revolution. The funding is the first step towards a broader commitment of up to £1 billion through the Local Power Plan, with the ambition of supporting more than 1,000 local and community-led clean energy projects across the UK.

Great British Energy has two current engagement opportunities as part of this work.

Submit by 13 November - Local Power Plan Investor Survey

Working with the Green Finance Institute, Great British Energy is seeking feedback from investors on how portfolios of smaller clean energy projects, including solar and battery storage on public sector sites, can be financed more effectively.

The survey aims to better understand current market practice and identify the commercial characteristics needed to attract investment into these types of projects at scale.

Stakeholders can submit their views through the investor survey.

Find out more about the survey here.

Submit by 14 November - Call for Investment Concepts and Pipeline: Community Power

Great British Energy has established the Community Power Fund to address a persistent investability gap in community and local energy.

This opportunity is for energy finance intermediaries with ideas for bringing local and community energy projects together into investable portfolios.
