17 additional critical components are now eligible for funding as Great British Energy widens support for UK offshore wind and electricity networks supply chains

Great British Energy has announced an expansion of its £300 million Supply Chain Fund: Offshore Wind and Networks, increasing the number of eligible critical components from 12 to 29.

This opens new capital grant funding opportunities for manufacturers across the UK, supporting investment in the domestic manufacturing capacity needed to deliver the country's clean energy ambitions, including driving reindustrialisation, creating good skilled jobs, and increasing manufacturing in two key sectors needed to deliver our clean energy targets.

Rob Gilbert, Interim Director of Supply Chain at Great British Energy, said:

“Building a strong UK clean energy industry means investing not just in major infrastructure, but in the manufacturers and specialist components that make it possible.

“This expansion reflects what we're hearing from industry and is an important step in delivering our Energy Engineered in the UK ambition to build domestic manufacturing capability, unlock investment and ensure the benefits of clean energy are felt across the country.”

The Fund forms a key part of Great British Energy's £1 billion Energy Engineered in the UK (EEUK) programme, which aims to unlock investment in UK clean energy supply chains, create skilled jobs and strengthen the country's industrial capabilities.

The expanded eligibility list reflects the latest evidence and market intelligence on critical and constrained components across the offshore wind and electricity networks sectors.

The 17 additional components include jackets, generators, gearboxes and power converters used in offshore wind turbines, alongside a range of electricity networks components such as HV bushings, converter valves and parts for HVDC converter stations and HVAC substations.

By extending support to more specialised components deeper in the supply chain, Great British Energy aims to address constraints at multiple levels and build the domestic manufacturing capability needed to support the UK's growing clean energy infrastructure.

The expansion reflects Great British Energy's ongoing engagement with industry and its commitment to ensuring funding responds to emerging supply chain needs.

The latest expansion represents a further step towards ensuring that the economic benefits of the energy transition are felt across the wider UK manufacturing supply chain.

Great British Energy has also introduced an Additional Critical Components submission process, inviting manufacturers, trade bodies and other industry stakeholders to provide evidence on further components that could benefit from support.

The eligible components list will remain under review, allowing Great British Energy to respond to new evidence, changing market conditions and emerging supply chain constraints

This ensures the fund continues to target areas where investment can make a meaningful contribution to UK manufacturing capability.

Round 4 of the fund is now open, with applications closing on 10 December 2026 17:00 GMT.

Alongside the expanded eligibility list, Great British Energy has published updated scheme guidance, including further detail on grant intensity and clarification of evidence requirements.

Manufacturers are encouraged to review the updated eligibility criteria and consider applying. A submission form to propose new components to be added is also available on the webpage to encourage wider consideration.
